Genesis Breyer P-Orridge Needs Our Help

UPDATE: Genesis still needs our help. Gen almost died in the ICU last month, and is back to around 0 in funds because the medical expenses are so exorbitant. Please donate at the new campaign: www.gofundme.com/w6ste-genesis…

Industrial music pioneer Genesis Breyer P-Orridge was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Gen is broke and behind on rent and struggling to afford the treatments they need to survive.

If you know your music history, you know what a travesty this is.

If you don't, I will only tell you that this is an incredible person who has changed my life, and who I was lucky enough to meet a couple of times.  Gen showed me the utmost grace and kindness, and has lived a life of unparalleled courage and integrity.

If you can donate, please do: www.gofundme.com/genesis-breye…

If you cannot, please re-share this campaign.  I appreciate anything you can do.

RIP Tanith Lee

Most of you probably aren't familiar with Tanith Lee, which is truly a crime. She is positively one of the most wonderful authors in the entire world, an unrecognized genius, whose words are gems and whose sentences are goldmines. She is a shining star in my sky, and a few days ago, she died.

I made a pendant for her about a year ago, inspired by her novel The Birthgrave. I wanted to mail it to her, but never heard back. She fought several hard battles with cancer, which I assume is the monster that slayed her in the end. I never got to say "thank you" to her for her amazing work.

But she's still a shining star in my sky, and will be forever.

If you haven't read any of her books, I urge you to do so. I don't know what inspires me more, her exquisite prose poetry or her persistent refrain of rebellion and the search for authenticity and individuality. I hope that someday she gains the recognition she deserved in her lifetime, and that her spirit lives on somewhere as magickal as the worlds she put on the page.

I wrote a book!

This isn't your typical go-on-a-magic-quest-and-fight-dragons fantasy. It's a gritty drama with a fantasy backdrop where everything is just a shade off of familiar. It's a story about violent, compromised people struggling to live and love in a world entrenched in moral ambiguity and spiritual emptiness. Here is the short summary:

Talystasia stands divided.  An ancient wall runs down the city’s center, and for centuries, the Lorens and Telyras have vied for dominance.  But their endless feud is not the only schism that runs through these pages.  Here, loyalties are fractured and hearts and minds are also divided.  Will Andreas Telyra and Roselia Loren triumph on the war grounds within, or will they succumb to the cycle of violence and spiral even deeper into the dark?

ChaosFay put together this nifty personal soundtrack thing: <da:thumb id="442679756"/>

Because she is awesome, I plan to listen to every song on her list.  It will probably take me ages, but that is perfectly okay, because it is nice being able to imagine what it is like to be someone else on some level and experience the days of her life, especially someone artistically inseparable from me.  A number of the songs on her list are songs I love, so it's like being able to see a crossover in experience.

I am now taking POINTS as a payment method for jewelry purchases (but only some of the time, and only if you talk to me first).

It seems that DA now allows me to convert points into actual cash which I can withdraw through PayPal.  So, PayPal and money orders are no longer my sole payment methods.  You can now buy jewelry from me using points.  This includes commissions as well as pieces which are posted for sale.  Please note me if you would like to purchase something I've posted so I can calculate the shipping for you (as well as the value of the piece in points!).

So it'd be like this:

$15 item: 1200 points
$20 item: 1600 points
$30 item: 2400 points

and so on.

International shipping seems to run me about $10 these days, so add on another 800 points if you're not in the US.
US shipping: 400 points.

Points + Sale

2 min read
Hello everyone;

Anyone have 145 points?  If someone gifts me 145 points between now and the 12th, I'll gift that person (and myself) with a month of premium membership.  It's not a lot, but trying to make the most out of the points I have.  If you do this, please leave a reply on this journal so that no one else tries to jump on my offer at the same time.

Update: Offer taken by :iconrazzigyrl:  Thanks!
--
Everything is on sale through the winter holidays (2011), but please NO PAYPAL (even though you see PP buttons on my site, seriously, please no PP right now).  Cash, check or money order only please.  Send me a note if you'd like to purchase something and we can discuss.

30% off means

$40.00 items are only $27.00.
$30.00 items are only $20.00.
$20.00 items are only $14.00.

If something is out of your price range and your offer is reasonably close, just ask.  I'll probably say yes.  You only pay for shipping once on orders for multiple items.  So hit me up if you're interested in something I've posted, and I'll be posting some new stuff soon too.  This does not affect commission prices.

Finally, my friend :iconthepiertoforever:'s novel Melody and the Pier to Forever is currently free right now.  You can download it on Barnes and Noble here:  www.barnesandnoble.com/w/melod… or at Smashwords at www.smashwords.com/books/view/… .

It's ridiculously fantastic, and I say this not because he's my friend (well, not only), but because it is genuinely one of the best fantasy sagas I've ever read, period.

Thanks!

I've been rather inactive (and will probably be in that state indefinitely) but have enjoyed catching up with some of you and looking at your wonderful work in the past couple weeks.

Anyway, if you've given me a favourite any time in the past couple months, a huge thank you for supporting me!  Alas I cannot make it around to thank everyone personally at this point, but it is a very nice thing to check back in here and find my work not entirely forgotten.

SALE

Everything in my stock (not counting Iridesce's items) is 30% Off right now.  I've decided to extend my sale through the end of January.

This makes a 50$ item cost 35$, and a 30$ item cost 21$, etc. This is a great deal for the level of detailed craftsmanship I do. Additionally, if you order two or more items, I will take off an additional 5$ at checkout (plus you save on shipping).

Most of the items I've posted here on DA are for sale (if they aren't, they say otherwise in the comments). I do have Paypal set up on my site, balthasarcraft.blogspot.com , but I have no means of running an automated sale there. ***So if you'd like to purchase anything between now and Christmas, please send me an email or a note -first-, telling me which item/s you want and where you live, and I'll send a paypal link to the email address you provide me that will give you the appropriate discount and shipping price***. If anything is unclear, just let me know and I'll answer your questions.

Thanks!

Kyla
